The young brand with global ambitions arrived in Shoreditch as part of its ongoing swift international expansion. Founded by Shannon and J.J. Wilson- the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson- Kit and Ace is making a name for itself for producing machine-washable technical cashmere clothing and accessories. Their mantra is to work with the local creative class on their individual retail outlets, commissioning bespoke hyperlocal elements such as lighting and supper club tables to ensure their stores look unique and feel authentic within their chosen location.
For their Redchurch Street London Flagship store, Studio Warm created the light installation 'Second Law', combining both the energetic and luxurious aspects of Kits meets Ace. Crafted from delicate blown, sandblasted glass and brushed copper- akin to a fine piece of jewellery in its execution- the installation reflects the high quality of the soft, technical garments that surround it. The piece was designed and made in London, working closely with a workshop and glassblower, uniting design and craft locally.
In addition to the permanent retail fixtures, which make up at least 30% of each store, 'The Wall' features rotating exhibits of work by local artists, Supper Clubs are hosted by local caterers and restaurants.
The Supper club table and benches were created by South London based cabinet maker Sebastian Cox, whilst the inaugural exhibit on display on 'The Wall' features the artwork of Scarlett Bowman, the photographer Raphaelle Bob Garcia's work is featured to the back of the store.
The store opened in September with a successful launch event during London Fashion Week with crowds flooding into the streets.
